"Ha ha ha ha, help!?" - Jon while laughing hysterically
"Ha ha, yes Jon" - Jenn
"Ha Ha Ha, Help?!" - Jon laughing even harder
"Yes Jon" - Jenn laughing as she is realizing he is sliding toward the edge, now with a slight sense of urgency - "I am going to grab your belt and pull you back from the side of the rock."

Jon slides head first over the rocks as Jenn tries, unsucessfully, to pull him back with his belt.

"HA HA HA" - Jon is lying on the ground

New Bike

I have now had my shiny new Brodie Cyclone for over a month and I am loving it! It is a dual suspension, 5 inches front and rear travel, 6" hydraulic disc brakes, lightweight and ready to rock. pic.jpeg I was doing a lot of cross country riding in Victoria and Duncan, however when Jon came to town he wanted to get out and do some downhill.

Jon and I decided to take off for Mount Washington and ride bikes. It is a similar set up to Whistler or Sunpeaks, you ride to the chairlift, it takes you up, and you ride down on your choice of trails. It is not as smooth as Whistler, but what can you expect, Whistler is practically a groomed highway.

I started out knowing that my brakes were a bit spongy, and being the reactive person I am I had just let them be. We rode all morning up and down the two chairs, me for the most part trailing Jon.

We stopped for a quick lunch in the parking lot, consisting of us bbq-ing our smokies on the little grill we brought and chocking back a few ice cold brews right out of our little cooler. We got a couple funny looks as we sat on our foldout chairs at our tailgate, but almost everyone just smiled and gave us a thumbs up, (including the Mt. Washington employee who happened to park right beside us).

After lunch I noticed I was getting faster, I was having Jon trail me down the hills. I was feeling good, maybe it was the beer, or maybe it was me finally getting used to my bike. I also noticed I was getting less and less braking power as I squeezed the brake levers. On our last run I realized I was no longer stopping, just barely slowing down. Air had gotten into my brake line, (hydraulics), giving me little to no stopping power. It was at this point I realized I should probably call it a day. Aside from the small bush I drove into at the bottom of the trail there were no other mishaps.

I now have had the brakes bled and I am once again stopping...
